Community Programs

Warrior Cottages

We have partnered with Home Depot, the Housing Assistance Council, USA Pawn, the Department of Veteran Affairs, and other gracious local businesses to provide housing and supportive services to our Veterans. This program is growing rapidly and we are thrilled that we are able to expand the initial framework for this program to allow for additional housing and supportive services for our Veterans. ​

Vicksburg Rural Farm School

Cultivating Hope. The Center for Police and Sheriffs is currently funded through the USDA and in partnership with Donna Yowell to maintain a community garden, as well as, to share our experience and knowledge in planting/growing flowers and crops in rural areas with members of our local communities.

Blessings Boxes - Food Distribution Program

In partnership with the Mississippi Food Network, Wal-Mart, another local grocery stores, we are able to provide Blessing Boxes of food and household goods to families in need in our local community. The Center for Police and Sheriffs currently hosts a food distribution every Wednesday to areas in need, and has proudly done so for the past 3+ years.

HOPE Home Shelter and Transitional Housing

Our Hope Home Shelter and Transitional Housing Units are located in Central, Mississippi. Our Shelter has an on-site office with staff present 24/7/365, as well as, on-site security and maintenance. We currently shelter victims of domestic violence, victims of human trafficking, runaway youth that are involved in the Youth Court system, Veterans, and members of the medically vulnerable community. Our HOPE Home is partially funded through grants by Mississippi Home Corporation, Mississippi Office Against Inter-Personal Violence, and Hinds County COC.

Emergency Solutions Grant-CV and Emergency Solutions Grant

During the COVID pandemic, the Center for Police and Sheriffs through funding provided by Mississippi Home Corporation, HUD Housing, and other housing agencies we were able to carry out our Homes for Homeless Project providing Emergency Shelter, Rapid Re-Housing, Homeless Prevention, and Supporting Services to eligible persons/families experiencing homelessness right here in our community.
